Goodie of the Week: The Womanizer 2 Go (And Why We Stopped Carrying It)

A Goodie of the Week from 2017 that did not age well.
Read this first. We featured the 2 Go here in 2017 and we do not carry it any more. The honest reason is that it was not a good product. What to buy instead is further down.
What it was trying to be
The 2 Go was Womanizer stretching. They had invented air pulse and had a genuine hit on their hands, and the obvious next move was to widen the range: a smaller one, a cheaper one, a lipstick-case one you could throw in a bag. The 2 Go was that attempt. It looked the part and it travelled well and the idea was completely reasonable.
The problem is that air pulse lives or dies on the seal. The head has to hold contact around the clitoris, because the sensation is air moving inside that seal rather than anything touching you. Break the seal and you get nothing. Everything Womanizer has learned since 2017 has gone into making that seal more forgiving, and the 2 Go was on the wrong side of that learning curve. It was fussy to position, it lost contact easily, and the battery was not up to much.
If you are about to buy one secondhand
Don't. I know they still turn up cheap, and I know the case looks good in photos. Not every product a good company makes is good, and Womanizer as a brand is absolutely worth your money. This one was not.
What to buy instead
Genuinely any other Womanizer is a better toy than the 2 Go, so you do not need to think about this too hard. But if you want the ranking:
The Premium 2 is the hands-down winner if you can afford it. It is the flagship and it is the one where the seal, the intensity range and the quiet all land at once. At $189 it is a real purchase, and it is the one I would buy for myself.
The Starlet 3 is the next best thing at $85, and it is the honest answer to what the 2 Go was actually trying to do. Small, travel-friendly, and about a decade of engineering ahead of it.
