The Tokidoki x Lovehoney Collection: What Happened to It, and What to Buy Now
✨ Tokidoki x Lovehoney ✨
The cutest thing we ever sold, and one of the best selling.
Read this first. Tokidoki x Lovehoney launched in October 2016 and we picked it up almost immediately. The line is no longer made. Licensing collaborations tend to end quietly when the term runs out, and this one did, with no announcement I ever saw. If you came here looking to buy one, scroll to the bottom, because we carry things that scratch the same itch.
What it was
Tokidoki is the brand Simone Legno built out of Japanese pop art, all those wide-eyed characters and unicorns and skulls in candy colors. If you were paying attention in the 2000s you saw it on handbags first. I owned several. So when Lovehoney licensed the characters for a pleasure collection, I did not need much convincing.
The range was bullets, classic and clitoral vibrators, finger vibes, love rings, strokers, and the Unicorn Wand. Every piece carried the artwork. That was the whole proposition and it turned out to be more than enough.
Why it sold the way it did
The bullets flew. They were impulse buys, plain and simple, and the art was the reason. Nobody was weighing motor specifications. They were picking up something small and cheap and covered in a character they already loved, and adding it to the cart on the way through. That is a completely legitimate way to buy a sex toy and the industry is often too snobbish to admit it.
The Unicorn Wand went for a different reason. It was a statement piece. Genuinely a bit too cute to use, which people said out loud and then bought it anyway, because some objects you want to own as much as you want to use. It sat on a nightstand looking like a toy in the other sense of the word, and that was the appeal.
What I took from the whole thing is that cute is a real purchase driver rather than a decoration on top of one. A toy you are pleased to look at is a toy you actually reach for. A toy you are faintly embarrassed by lives in a drawer until the battery corrodes.
What to get instead
If it was the bullets you loved, the Sweet Treat bullets are the closest thing we have and they sell for exactly the same reason. Fourteen dollars, adorable, and impossible to scroll past. They have been quietly one of our best sellers for years without a licensing deal behind them, which rather proves the point.
If it was the Unicorn Wand, we carry four unicorn wands now, which is either excessive or exactly right depending on how you feel about unicorns. And if you want the statement piece to end all statement pieces, the glass one is a genuine object.
The bullets
The unicorn wands
The statement pieces
One last thing about the too-cute-to-use problem, since it comes up every time. Use it. A toy that stays pretty in a box is not doing anything for you, and none of these are so precious that a wash and a wipe will not put them right back where they started.

About Zoey
Everything in this shop is here because I chose it. I opened The White Unicorn in 2016, I still do all the buying myself, and I have tested most of what I sell. Ten years of answering the same questions is how I learned what people actually need, and it is why I will happily tell you when something is not worth your money.
