A reusable gel pad that goes cold for swelling or warm for comfort, shaped long and narrow to sit where it is needed after birth.
The gel inside is divided into small beaded cells instead of one solid block. That is why it still bends when it is cold. A pack that freezes into a solid slab goes stiff and flat and sits away from the body. This one keeps its shape against you.
A soft plush cover slips over the gel pack, and that cover is the only thing touching skin. No shock of bare cold plastic straight out of the refrigerator, and the cover comes off to be washed.
Cold is for the early days: swelling, tenderness and general soreness. Warm is for later, or any time gentle heat feels better than cold. Chill it in the refrigerator, or warm it following the directions on the pack.
Reusable, latex free, easy to clean, and backed by a two year warranty.
Why this works
- Hot and cold in one pad, so there is nothing else to buy when the swelling settles and heat starts feeling better
- Beaded gel cells stay flexible when chilled, so the pad conforms instead of going rigid
- Soft plush cover sits between the gel and your skin, and comes off to be washed
- Long narrow shape made for the perineal area rather than a general purpose ice pack
- Reusable, latex free and BPA free
- Two year warranty

Care
Chill the gel pack in the refrigerator, and warm it following the directions on the pack. Always use it inside the plush cover and never put the bare gel pack against skin. Wipe the gel pack clean and wash the cover separately. Check the pack for damage before each use, and stop using it if the gel leaks.
Use it for
The first days after a vaginal birth, when cold does the most good. Later recovery, when gentle warmth is more comfortable. Soreness after a long day on your feet. It also works for tenderness and swelling that has nothing to do with birth.
FAQ
Cold or warm, which do I want? Cold in the early days, for swelling and tenderness. Warm later on, or any time heat feels better than cold. You can switch back and forth.
How do I make it cold? Put it in the refrigerator. It does not need a freezer, and it is not meant to be frozen into a solid block.
Can it touch skin directly? Use it inside the plush cover. The cover protects skin and makes the pad comfortable straight out of the fridge.
Is it reusable? Yes. Clean it between uses and it keeps working. It carries a two year warranty.
Does it stay in place? It is shaped to sit inside underwear. Fit depends on what you are wearing, and a high cut brief or the mesh pair from the hospital holds it best.
Is it latex free? Yes, latex free and BPA free.
How many do I need? One works if you are happy to wait for it to chill again. Two means one is always cold and ready.
Will anyone know what is in the package? All orders from The White Unicorn ship in a plain package, and the return label will read TWU or shipping department.
